VO2 Max Breath Analysis –
The gold standard Aerobic Fitness Measure
Our breath analysis device will measure your own unique cellular health, metabolism, cardiovascular and respiratory condition. We can also assess when you burn more carbs or fats.
There are two types of tests we can perform to measure different variables. One is the RMR test (Resting Metabolic Rate), which tells us about a person’s metabolic efficiency by finding the ratio of carbs and fats burned, as well as total calories in a day. Active tests (VO2 Max) can give valuable insight into athletes performance and limitations. This is important for aerobic sport athletes, as they can help coaches to design, and modify training programs, as well as track progress. Sport scientists can tell a lot about a person by having them perform a VO2 max test.
VO2 Max Tests
With our VO2 Max metabolic testing, we measure your own unique metabolism, cardiovascular and respiratory condition, cellular health, fat burning zone and calories you burn per day.
Metabolic tests measure the amount of oxygen you inhale and the carbon dioxide you exhale to determine the rate at which your body burns calories and uses oxygen at rest or during different activities. In short, an athlete completes a VO2 max test to find their:
- VO2 Max – the max amount of oxygen your body can use during exercise.
- Fat to Carb crossover – At which point to body switches energy systems to burn more carbs than fats.
When producing a report for the athlete we use the below metrics to identify specific limitations.
- Metabolic Efficiency – Represents the number of calories you burn during exercise and whether you are burning more or less calories than the average person of the same age, gender, height and weight.
- Cardiovascular fitness – your cardiovascular system’s (heart, blood vessels and blood) ability to deliver oxygen to your muscles.
- Aerobic health – ability to exercise at high intensities
- Recovery capacity – your ability to recover from high intensity exercise
- Fat burn efficiency – represents your muscle cells ability to utilise oxygen and burn fat as a fuel source.
- High-intensity performance – how well you use oxygen at higher intensities.
- Mechanical Efficiency – the work you produce (output) vs. the calories you use (input)
- Breathing and cognition – how your breathing frequencies are affecting the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in your blood/cells.
- Breathing and stability – how your respiratory volumes are affecting your spinal stability, limb power and posture
This information is then analysed and presented to you in an easy-to-read report along with recommendations on how to structure any training or workouts so you get maximum efficiency from your exercise program.

Training and Coaching
Training Zones

With the data we gain from your breath during exercise, we can accurately discover your individual training zones. This means that your coach (or us if you choose to train with us), can create an efficient training program suited to you and your goals. We can specifically target your limitations, and give you different training options, based on the equipment you have available to train with.

Plan your training week according to your own goals, and what your body needs most!

Put your new training plan into action, then retest and track your progress!
RMR Test
The RMR or Resting Metabolic Rate test is a 10 minute resting test which provides information about your metabolic rate at rest. This is performed by lying down while wearing the breathing analysis device while fasted.
Find out how many calories you burn in day. Use this information to determine your dietary intake to suit your goals, whether it be losing or gaining weight.

Your metabolism speed, refers to how efficiently your body can use the calories its given. Our test can determine whether your current metabolism is fast or slow compared with others of the same, age, height and weight. We can use this information to direct your training and diet to improve where needed.

VO2 Max Test $200-$250 (Depending on detail of report)
