Having both grown up with a love for sport, we both went to university to study a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise science and this is where we met.
Isaac grew up playing and loving rugby. As an overweight child he was motivated to get into the gym in his teenage years in order to lose weight. This is where his love for strength and conditioning began, and he started competing in powerlifting. His desire to learn more led to him going to uni to get his Bachelors degree in Sport and Exercise Science. It was here he met Emma.
Emma grew up with a love for sport, competing in swimming and diving until she graduated highschool, before going on to study Sport and Exercise Science at University. While in her undergrad, she spent time in China, at Tianjin University of Sport, and later on spent a semester in Wisconsin, USA. She went on to study her Masters in High Performance Sport. During this time, she completed an internship at Clemson University, working with some of the best Division 1 athletes and strength coaches in the United States. These experiences helped inspire the well-rounded approach she takes to training.
From our years of experience in the industry, we have found some mistakes people make, are they don’t like to build their foundation when it comes to training. People always want to try new, fun looking exercises they see on the internet, which have minimal return. This leads to sub par results and potentially injuries.
On the other hand, there is the coaches that train clients from cookie cutter programs, not taking into account the athlete’s needs, goals, abilities, or contraindications.
We combat this by putting together training programs specifically suited to your goals, and abilities. We ensure that we give you the best foundation possible to reach your goals. We focus on getting the little things right and giving you a strong base in the gym, so that you can focus on your sport and other goals.
In 2024 we began building our dream gym in Evans Head. “Jamo’s Muscle Mechanics” has become our main training space, and is now home to over 50 members. Our focus from the start has been to foster a great environment for beginners to advanced lifters to be able to train together, and each person feels they belong.
